My Story

About the Cause

I'm running The Great South Run on the 20th of October 2024 in memory of my partner's father, John, who tragically passed away from Sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) in 2019. CJD is a rare and devastating neurodegenerative disorder that affects around one in a million people each year, leading to rapid and irreversible brain damage.

My Mission

Witnessing CJD's swift and heart-breaking impact has driven me to raise awareness and funds to support research, improve diagnostics, and provide better care for those affected. By participating in The Great South Run I hope to honour John's memory and contribute to the fight against this relentless disease.

How You Can Help

Your generous donations will go directly to The Cure CJD Campaign which is dedicated to:

  • Funding ground-breaking research to understand and combat CJD
  • Supporting patients and families affected by CJD
  • Educating healthcare professionals to improve early diagnosis and patient care

Join Me in the Fight

Every step I take is for John and for the hope of a future where no one has to endure the pain of CJD. Please support my run by donating to this worthy cause. Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those affected by Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

Thank you for your support.

Leah.
